A NVI segue o mesmo ponto de partida da NIV, uma versão em língua inglesa reconhecida internacionalmente.
O propósito dos estudiosos que traduziram as Escrituras Sagradas a partir das línguas originais para trazer à tona estes textos foi somar à lista das várias traduções existentes um texto novo que se definisse por quatro elementos fundamentais: precisão, beleza de estilo, clareza e autoridade.

The Bilingual Bible brings to the reader the opportunity of having both the renowned NIV and the well-recognized NVI for a deep study of the Portuguese and English versions, allowing the fluente reader, in both languages, to immerse in the Holy Scriptures and recognize the cultural and textual diversity that is presented here.
NVI follows the same startpoint of NIV, an English version of international recognition. The purpose of the scholars translating the Holy Scriptures from the original languages to bring these texts up was to add to the many existent translations a new text defined by four elements:
precision, beauty of style, intelligibility and dignity.
